Actually… Let’s not.

You know why? Because someone will be on the wrong side of my opinion and as a pastor, it is not my job to divide, but to unite.

How do you unite people in their political preferences and political differences? You dont.

Let me explain… I see pastors and leaders being more political on social media than some of the politicians themselves. Pastors especially… It is nauseating. You know why? Because what about the people that we are supposed to be influencing and reaching for Jesus? Our politics gets in the way of those opportunities so many times because we will die on the mountain of our candidate or our preferred party and it is a black eye to the Kingdom of God.

While I am on facebook, which will be short-lived most likely, I have come to the conclusion that so many want to feel better about themselves and their political preferences so they post on social to get a following or some courage and what it does is alienate even more. Can we just stop it?

The enemy is loving this because we are dividing and not uniting. We, as Christians or Pastors or whatever, are being no different than Political pundits and Washington talking heads trying to convince everyone that our opinions and our preferences are the “right” ones to have. SMH

I have been here before. I have done this before. I have learned. Also, I honestly am even nauseated when I see some of my “memories” and some of the things I have posted in years past. I feel like I have grown up a bit since then. So many need to do the same. Grow up. Be a bigger person and a bigger person of character and integrity. I am loving the attempt to live the “quiet life” as Paul tells us in Scripture in 1 Thessalonians 4:11-12,: “and to make it your ambition to lead a quiet life: You should mind your own business and work with your hands, just as we told you, 12 so that your daily life may win the respect of outsiders and so that you will not be dependent on anybody.”

Let’s be a light Church folk… Let’s pray for all elected officials, candidates, and those in leadership authority. I pray The will of The Lord Jesus be done in this nation!

“This, then, is how you should pray: “ ‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, 10your kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. 11Give us today our daily bread. 12And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. 13And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.’ Matthew 6:9-13 NIV

In closing… Let’s be a people and a nation like we were on 9-12-01… United. Standing together. Committed.

And may God bless the United States of America.
